Quality Control Inspector

The LAFRAMBOISE GROUP is seeking a Quality Control Inspector with Industrial project experience.  This is a full-time position based out of LGL’s corporate office in Long Sault (Cornwall) Ontario.

LGL is an industrial fabricator and contractor self-performing, Piping, Structural Steel, Sheetmetal, Millwrighting, Tanks and Vessels, Electrical and Instrumentation work.  We have offices in Long Sault Ontario, Syracuse NY, and Bartow FL and perform work throughout the continental USA and Canada.

Description of Position:  The Inspector will provide direct input and direction with respect to quality on the day-to-day construction and fabrication issues and will follow the LGL processes and procedures to ensure construction and fabrication activities meet the Quality requirements of the Project, while meeting the site’s safety, environmental and other applicable regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements and monitors the LGL’s Quality Control Manual and Construction Inspection and Test Plans in support of project requirements and construction schedule. 
  • Inspect/review product material, weld quality, fit quality, and testing to ensure compliance with Code, Standards, Specifications and LGL’s Quality Control Manual.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections as stated in LGL’s Quality Control Manual.
  • Communicating with the Project Manager to determine the specific requirements of a given work order, including the scope of work, deliverables, schedule, and budget for a particular assignment.
  • Reviews, analyzes and evaluates supplier and contractor activities, products, and reports for adherence to the LGL requirements. Monitors subcontractor quality personnel in the execution of their work.
  • Ensure that the services provided are in accordance with the project requirements and contract with the client.
  • Prepares and/or reviews reports and quality records in compliance with procedures.
  • Review and control the documentation of certifications of construction equipment and testing equipment.  Ensure proper records of all inspections are kept on file and files for each contract are kept up to date.
  • Perform as quality lead for all assigned projects; including but not limited to product inspections, product audits, paperwork, document management and submittals, working with customer quality staff, tracking, and reporting key performance indicators.
  • Identifies non-conformance and participates in corrective actions.
  • Assist in the coordination of punch list walk-downs and inspections.
  • Report to the QA Manager any issues which may affect the production due dates and quality of manufactured products.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues to the Project Manager, clients, and fabrication facility and staff.
  • Interface with the customer’s Quality Assurance Inspectors and Jurisdictional Authorized inspectors.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset; the ability to identify and assess improvement opportunities. 
  • Ensure Health & Safety Policies are understood and followed.
  • Travel to suppliers or subcontractors or to project sites to review quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified Welding Inspector or CWB Welding Supervisor Certification is required.  Certified NDT Level II (MT, UT) preferred.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, blueprint reading, weld processes, record keeping, and systems.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of construction technology, and EPC industry.
  • Constructability knowledge.
  • Reading and comprehension of Drawings and Isometrics.
  • Knowledge of National and International Codes and Standards
  • Knowledge of National and/or International Rules and Regulations Requirements.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
  • Problem Solving (Identify, Analyze, Research, Evaluate, Resolve)
  • Strong working knowledge of MS 365 Office, MS Project, SharePoint, project controls and estimating software.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and yet be independent and self-reliant when completing tasks.
  • Must be willing to work rotations in and out of remote project settings (from several weeks to 12 months).
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
