Project Controls/Scheduler

The Laframboise Group is seeking a project scheduler with industrial project experience. This is a full-time position based out of Laframboise Group’s corporate office located in Long Sault (Cornwall), Ontario.

LGL is an industrial fabricator and contractor self-performing piping, structural steel, sheet metal, millwrighting, tanks and vessels, electrical, and instrumentation work. We have offices in Long Sault, Ontario; Syracuse, NY; Bartow, FL; and perform work throughout Canada and the continental USA.

Description of Position:

Responsible for developing and managing multiple project schedules for LGL. Works directly with Project Manager and team to fully understand the project scope to create a project schedule based on information, duration, and task relationships developed by the project team.

  • Development of the overall project schedule including integration of change of scopes, and any delays to the progression of work.
  • Implementation project control strategies and plans that support the overall project goals and objectives.
  • Track, monitor, and report on project progress against established benchmarks and goals.
  • Update project schedule through assessment of project progress and input from all disciplines’ superintendents. Perform analysis of any schedule delays and manpower levelling.
  • Interpreting data and actual completion dates, with an objective to identify potential issues, and areas, where work needs to be prioritized, to rectify any delays. Analyze the critical path to specific activities.
  • Serve as the central point of contact and communications for the purposes of schedule and progress updates between different disciplines.
  • Collaborate with project manager, project teams, and clients to develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Prepare analytical reports and guidelines for project managers and client and communicate and follow up on action items.
  • Develop and manage the preparation and updates of schedules, tables, and graphs on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure project control activities comply with project contractual requirements and industry best practices.
  • Create easy-to-read and understand reports.
  • Facilitate project control meetings and presentations to the project team, management, and clients.
  • Assist in providing information and support for proposals and RPF’s as needed.
  • Perform special projects, research and/or analysis as required by client or internal requests.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety Policies and provincial health and safety regulations are understood and followed.
  • Providing verbal and written project status updates and reports.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma required.
  • Engineering or technical degree (and eligible for professional status) with multidiscipline engineering and construction experience including civil, mechanical, structural, and electrical or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with scheduling multidisciplined industrial projects and contracts (combination of Civil and/or Structural and/or Mechanical and/or Piping and/or Electrical) ($15MM+).
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage concurrent contracts and projects.
  • Proficient at analyzing, managing, and administering contract documentation.
  • Posses a strong command of the English language, both written and oral (French / Spanish would be an asset).
  • Have a strong working knowledge of MS 365 Office, MS Project, SharePoint, Primavera P6, project controls and estimating software.
  • Willingness and ability to relocate between Head Office and project sites for periods of 3 months to 2 years.
