Experienced Shop Manager
LGL Inc. is seeking an Experienced Shop Manager with Industrial project experience. This is a full-time position based out of LGL’s Fabrication facility located in Bartow, Fl.
LGL is an industrial fabricator and contractor self-performing, Piping, Structural Steel, Sheetmetal, Millwrighting, Tanks and Vessels, Electrical, and Instrumentation work. We have offices in Long Sault, Ontario, Syracuse, NY, and Bartow, FL and perform work throughout CANADA and the Continental USA.
Description of Position:
Responsible for managing the LGL Shop and Fabrication projects. Including managing staff, monitoring, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, updating project budget and schedule; forecasting costs and revenues, monitoring progress and administering changes; preparing project reports, managing project planning, and estimating, and leading the bidding process required for the various fabrication projects.
- Managing and leading fabrication project resources from raw material to production completion.
- Manage material take-off and procurement of subcontracts for services, fabrication, equipment, and facilities, including the preparation of RFPs and evaluation of bids.
- Creating schedules and tracking progress through all fabrication project phases and ensuring deliverables stay on-time, on-target, and on-budget.
- Develop fabrication procedures and establish clear quality standards; implement robust Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes to ensure all work is compliant.
- Apply current design and quality standards, client requirements and procedures including governmental and regulatory board standards as applicable.
- Review work drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and conformance to standards prior to distributing to the shop for production.
- Collaborate with project and department managers to ensure job requirements are being met.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate production employees, ensuring quality and productivity.
- Preparing requests for changes in scope, budget, and schedule in a timely manner.
- Maintain documentation and quality standards for projects such as: MTRs, WPS, WPQR, Weld Mapping, etc.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials, shop supplies and consumables.
- Coordinate Facility, Equipment, and Tool Maintenance.
- Comply with internal and external audits, inspections, guidelines, and regulations.
- Knowledge of National and/or International Codes, Standards, Rules, and Regulations.
- Ensure HSE Standards, Policies, and Regulations are understood and strictly enforced.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
- 5 years of pipe fabrication management or related experience in an industrial shop setting required.
- Technical competencies in fabrication (e.g. technical drawings, blueprints, types of metals, welding, fabrication and cutting techniques).
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage concurrent contracts and projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Working knowledge of MS 365 office, MS project, SharePoint, project controls and estimating software.
- Possess strong leadership skills and be able to provide professional judgement while performing role.
- Dedication to excellence and quality.
- Spanish Bilingual skills a plus, but not required.
